The Ring

It is becoming all to clear to me more and more women are asking for a ring....is the popularity of Beyonce's song...I wonder. May be it brought things to light, because I am sure they have been asking for years, but now have anthem to Scream and Shout...now what most ladies don't realize is that Jay and B were together for quite some years before they were wedded 6 Years (ponder that for a bit)...another thing that made me crack up the other day was the Cash4Gold commercial were the lady boldly stated "I sent in the ring from my first marriage and the cash I got for that went to my new ring"...say what now!!...

Is it that simple as to put a ring on it? yes it is, but some women have this crazy notion on what the ring Must Look like, smh, never mind working on the actual relationship..they have the ring, dress and location all mapped out...when I went dress shopping for our wedding, Went to David's Bridal in Long Island with my Mom and 3 of my brides maid...to be told I didn't have an appointment so I couldn't be seen..this chick in the store turned to me and goes I am getting married in 2010 (I wonder if she did)...this was February 2006. but ask your self (Self do I want Love or a Ring or the ole ego stroke when your friends fawns over your ring)...Yes jewelery and the purchasing of special jewelry should be well thought out, but the look on your face should be priceless... I don't care if you get a ring pop, its a blasted commitment (I am dead serious on that)

The ring is there and NOW WHAT!!....does it change the issues in the relationship? nope...will this make all your dreams and fair-tales come true? probably not... To me a lot of relationships need more work and I am not talking about the years you have been with someone (folks need to stop comparing years to another)...you need to focus on your relationship, you as a person and what needs to be done. Marriage is not an easy... it takes a lot of HARD WORK!! if you are the type of person that can't deal with responsibilities...then my dear Marriage aint for you (yes I said aint)..when you Marry, you join to lives together, this means all his is yours and all yours is his. If you can't stand his mother guess what....you have to figure a way to make it work ,cause more than likely, you guys will have kids and then you have to explain to the kids why you can't stand Granny...and why your throwing darts at her picture.

Marriage vows are not just words that you exchange in your big white dress and him in his dapper suit in front of family and friends...its words you say in front of God (yea remember him)....a lot of people only focus on the "forsaken all others"...but don't forget the "To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, 'till death do us part."....shit, this means that NO matter what you will be right there for each other til DEATH, that's the only way you part...

Now am I bashing anyone fore asking for a RING, nope...just be ready for all that's going to come along with it...after the ceremony and all the flashing lights, the cake has been cut and you have open up all the gifts. and you look down at that shinny ring that you soooo wanted...look around and ask yourself...did you find Love.

The Silent Whisper: How "Being Remembered" Shows the Difference Between Compromise and Settling

We talk a lot about “not settling” in modern dating how we shouldn’t accept the bare minimum, how we deserve effort, consistency, and someone choosing us every day. But somewhere along the way, “not settling” started getting confused with “never compromising,” and those two things are not the same. Compromise is collaboration. Settling is self-betrayal. And nothing captures that difference more clearly than the quiet, intimate act of being remembered. The Effort I Mistook for Compatibility For a long time, I was the one who remembered. I'm the woman who'll clock your favorite snack in passing and pick it up "just because." The one who remembers your big meeting, your bad knee, the story about your childhood bedroom. I remember the song you skip every time, the way you side-eye certain foods, the exact way you take your coffee. That's how I love people—through details. And for a long time, I mistook my own effort for "compatibility." I’ve been in situat...

When Your Person is Also Your Friend

Dating today feels like it’s running on fast-forward. Everything is about instant attraction, hookups, and surface-level vibes. Rarely do people pause long enough to ask: But are we friends? See, when someone is your friend to the core, it changes everything. Friends don’t go out of their way to hurt each other. Friends know how to tell the truth...even when it’s uncomfortable  because the bond matters more than ego. That’s what’s missing in a lot of relationships right now: the foundation. If I’m your friend, I should be able to say what’s on my heart without fear that you’ll twist it, dismiss it, or run away. And let’s be real, the group chat knows more than the man in the bed. I laughed when someone told me “girls share everything in the group chat” because listen, if any of my group chats ever got leaked? Wheeeew, pray for us all. 🤭 But here’s the kicker: most of us don’t actually share it all with the man we’re sleeping with. Some women do, sure, but most don’t. We’ll c...

Put Me In

I’m not good at this game called Love. Someone once told me I’m not supposed to be good at it— I’m just supposed to take care of it when I find it or if it finds me. But every time I tried to take care of it, It didn’t take care of me. I’m not good at this game called Love. I’ve trained for years. Had a few different teammates. Revised my playbook. Yet, somehow, I’m still no good at this game. And the closest I came to winning, I realized I was running plays with a teammate Who was passing the ball to every other team in the league. 😉 I left my last team. I walked away, filed the paperwork, Hung up my old jersey for good. Sometimes leaving is the hardest move you’ll ever make. And even though my heart is healing, It still feels like I’m stuck on the sideline. But the game goes on. I built this wall around me, Told myself it was for protection, But after my divorce, I was always looking for the quickest exit— Just waiting for the moment to leave. My therapist recently chuckled and said...
